Bows
-> Bamboo backed bow
|
|
Broad
flattened limbs and high narrow center section distinguishes this
type of bow. The forces of compression during the draw is equally
distributed in the wide surface (contrary to the English longbow),
This is the reason this bow type can be built shorter. A good target
bow is left somewhat static from the grip and prepared then very
softly to the bow end. Steamed bow end ( recurve) affect likewise supporting the firing speed. At the same time by the processed wood mass , the vibration in the bow is minimized ( Arm shock ). Probably the best wood for a flat bow is Osage orange, a very tough firm bow wood. Yew with a Bamboo backing is very well for short flat bows, with highest firing comfort. As
Grip piece I recommend hardwoods such as Osage, Hickory, or Plum,
this can also be combined and/ or selected as wood decorations in
the bow.
